Car not starting
Help guys have a z06 , it has an intermittent problem I either get a click or it starts fine.
The battery is new and fine , volts are good.
What can it be ? Any ideas ?
All power to car is fine inside dash lights up fine no problem.

Just above the starter, the negative battery wire connects to the engine block.
All three connectors ports need to be pulled after the battery terminals have been disconnect, surfaces cleaned, some dielectric grease added, then the connection points reconnected correctly (including the battery terminal as well).
Granted it a C5 (C6 top wire is a plug in type connector instead), but close enough to see the two main positive wires on the starter solenoid and the ground wire on the engine block just above the starter that need to be cleaned.
To add on the subject, the back plastic end of the starter solenoid is bakelite. I bring this up, since it possible to get the backlite too hot from say headers, and this can cause the bakelite to crack; with one of the positive terminals on the starter solenoid to crack off instead.

Do you have headers? Bet it's your starter. Check the main hot wire that connects to it. Probably needs a new solenoid.

Automatic? If so there are a few threads related to this.

Melting Slicks
Next time it happens give the starter a solid tap, and then see if it cranks over. I went through the same thing earlier this year and my starter solenoid was the culprit. I was able to fit a long metal bar in from above and rest the bottom end on the starter, and tap the top end - no need to crawl under the car to give the solenoid a rap.

Could be that the lower clutch pedal switch is going south on you, or the connector needs to pulled and both it and the switch connector points needed to be cleaned. Or could be that you are not just pressing the clutch pedal all the way down to active the switch to allow the manual transmission car to start when you hit the start button.
Its the switch on the floor board (red wire) that gets pressed in when you push the clutch pedal all the way in.

Car won't start
My 2002 Corvette has had a phantom problem for over a year and I can't find out why. It starts perfectly about 19 out of twenty times. Then it just won't even try. All lights work, fan works, radio works, everything but the starter solenoid evidently doesn't energize.
I can keep turning the switch on and off and it may catch on the third or the thirtieth try. Recently have tried moving the gear selector around in the neutral area, and it has caught, sometimes. It has never failed to start within twenty or thirty tries.
So took it to my Chevrolet dealership and left it with them to try to duplicate problem. I have left it twice for a week with them trying it repeatedly--and it has never malfunctioned for them. They say it isn't the starter, solenoid, neutral safety switch or anything they can find.
Any ideas from you guys? Thank you.

Next time...to verify...
If no start...
Hit the starter with a block of wood while someone punches the start.
If it starts, it's the solenoid.
Once you know where the starter is located U may be able to reach it without raising the car. PITA either way.
That's based on my experience with a low mileage C5.

Like 'not so fast' mentioned. Make sure you do not have a phone charger plugged in the aux port, but the first hint of this is not letting you in the car.
