Grade of Gasoline ?
I don't own a C7, but I was wondering how you folks deal with Gasoline ? I know myself the it seems that the dirt and poor grade of even premium is hard on my LS1. My neighbor has a 5.3 V8 in his Silverado and he can't get 87 to burn so he runs 89. Myself, I don't use Sunoco, too much sulfer, and the only top teir fuel is a Shell station about 5 miles from here so I go to a Exxon Mobil 93.I was just wondering about you folks in the LT engines. How about you ?

Premium Only.. but since I live in Southern California.. it is only 91 Octane.
What I find rather odd about the Corvette is that Premium Gas is only RECOMMENDED. My others others (Mercedes, BMW, etc).. Premium Gas was REQUIRED...

Other option would be octane booster.

Now if your car has been specifically tuned by an aftermarket shop to provide better performance off race fuel like 100 octane.. then by all means knock yourself out. But I just hate to see people at the pump wasting their dollars.

Its your money, but be advised using anything above 91 would be a waste. The car is tuned to provide its best performance off 91.. even 93 is overkill but since its the premium brand sold in many states and priced the same as 91 it makes no difference.

I've only spent time with a tuner on two Corvette engines, an LS1 and an LS2. Both of those engines registered some level of "knock retard" on 91 octane fuel and were tuned to eliminate it. Untuned, both of those engines would have run better with 93 octane than the 91 available in California. Would I have noticed the increased power and mileage if 93 octane were used? .....perhaps not. Still, the engines would have run better with the higher octane. Unfortunately, 91 is the highest we have in California (at least that's regularly available at the pump), so that's what I always use -- and from a top tier supplier.

Use premium unleaded gasoline
with a posted octane rating of 91 or
higher. If the octane is less than 91,
you could damage the engine and
may void your vehicle warranty.
If heavy knocking is heard when
using gasoline rated at 91 octane or
higher, the engine needs service.

Great gas, wish we had BP in the DFW area. That's all I used when I lived in Minneapolis. In DFW, I tend to stick with Shell V-Power 93, but I think I'm going to switch over to Chevron/Texaco or ExxonMobil instead (at the advice of my tuner).
