Default GM, I believe we are done.

I have the flagship car for Chevy, yet I feel like I bought a Kia from a third party lot. I swear every item that can break on this car short of engine failure has broken and it is ridiculous that GM never wants to fix anything even though they know everyone has the same problem. If it weren't for the good people on the forum posting helpful "how to" information I would have gotten rid of my C6 long ago. I even changed my own fuel pump seals! Now the fuel sender unit acting crazy.

But this headlight issue may be it for me. Recall 13146 (14203) is listed for 05-07 although all C6's can have the issue and they don't want to fix my 08. This is madness. A major safety issue and I had never heard about it until my lights went out on a dark road. But I guess I can expect nothing better from a company that waits until some dies to fix something. Truly a disgrace. At least my Mercedes dealer makes whatever is wrong right.

Looks like another DIY for you to do. Run a parallel ground wire in the engine fuse box to fix the one that is broken and when it gets hot, it grows and looses contact.
I am on the recall list, but I doubt if it's happening anytime soon.
I'll do the DIY fix myself if the low beam headlights go out on me.

Good Luck

Is your dealer refusing to fix it? It seems that GM's own statements said that they would fix ANY C6 when this issue presented it self.

Have you contacted a GM regional manager about this?

yet they recalled and are performing the same exact same fix on cars 8 and 9 years old. explain that? I can at least agree with you that when things break out of my warranty period I don't complain about it, I just deal with it, it was my choice to keep the car out of warranty.. I know it's on me.. however, this is a safety recall item. they need to be handled differently.

you seem to be very blind and irritated anytime anyone posts something negative about GM, or Chevy.

if consumers never voice their opinions then corporations will never do anything to improve things for them.

GM is going to fix the headlights on all C6's. The 2005 through 2007 will be fixed under a recall. 2008 through 2013 will be fixed under a different program (costumer satisfaction program I think). Same repair, different name. Not sure why but they must have a reason for the different naming. No dealer is fixing them yet because GM has not provided dealers with the parts. All you have to do is read and retain the info that has been posted on this Forum a hundred times.

Sorry you have had and continue to have issues. My '08 has had problems but they have been addressed and fixed. I would suggest your dealer may be somewhat at fault as mine has gone out of their way to address my issues and those they have identified on their own. Good luck on finding a replacement that is half as much fun to drive as a C6 for the money.

Performing might be a stretch, AFAIK, NO fixes have been performed under this recall (parts not available or some such BS).

Those of us who have "fixed" this problem, either already paid someone to do it , like I have, or have done the wire jump fix themselves.

I bought a pristine 2007 A6 Velocity Yellow convertible last Saturday from a GM dealer. I had them run the GMVIS Report on the car. There is a section on the report titled "Required Field Actions". Listed under this section is number 13146 Product Safety Recall Low Beam Headlamps Inoperative. Under status it says "Incomplete - Remedy Not Yet Available".

Congrats on the new car! I would not worry overmuch about this if your low beams are still working.

This seems to be an issue where it has happened, and it was fixed (on the owner's dime) or it has not happened yet. I have not heard of anyone who is still awaiting the fix for an active low beam malfunction.

However, if I had such a car, at this point, I would be making such noise that would be heard on the national news. All cars, that are w/o low beams, due to this should be fixed ASAP! Even if it is with a temp fix, which replacing the original fuse box would be, IMO.

I haven't driven the car at night yet. The low beams do come on when I pull into my garage and after I start the car in the garage. But this is the first I heard of the low beam issue.

What you need is a C7, not a M-B, or so they say over at C7 Discussion.

And why kick the KIA? KIA didn't do anything wrong.

My wife drives a KIA, 45,000 trouble free miles. It is almost on par with my 07 Corvette.

Wife's Hyundai has been in the shop once in 60k miles for an issue. My '12 Vette has been in the shop at Vandergriff for warranty issues more times than I care to discuss. My '07 otoh never missed a beat nor did the '11 till some jackass nailed it in the front end. Damn I miss those two cars.

Really? I had a Mercedes SL500 that was in the shop every month for something. I kept it 6 months and got rid of it. That car was over $100,000 I have had more luck with my 2006 that I bought new.
I drove the crappy loaners they gave me almost as much as I drove the Merc.
Sometimes life gives you lemons, sell that lemonade back to the dealer and get another car.

Although in my case the wife's Mercedes C300 that has been virtually problem free. Only one issue (pass door lock) in 3.5 yrs.

BMW, mercedes, audis and porsches....

they all go to **** after their warranties expire.

Repairs on them are absolutely ridiculous parts n labor.

thats why most are leased and dumped after their warranties expire.

that's 1 reason, 2nd hand owners end up getting screwed, really hard.
That's why you see those high end german cars, depreciate like no others..
