Default Center Console

Does anyone know a good product to use on the chrome center console on a 63 Conv.? Mine is stained and nothing I used has worked. I tried chrome polish and all kind of cleaning fluids with no good results. Almost ready to paint it.

If you have an original '63 console, be careful, it's a one year only piece. I understand it is aluminum and the surface has an anodized finish. That may be why you are having trouble. Others here on the CF may add to this. Dennis

1963 center consoles dont have paint or chrome on them. 64-67 have paint and a chrome like brite finish. The 63 are aluminum and can be scratched and dented pretty easily. You may want to post a picture of what yours looks like.

I'll post a picture as soon as I can figure out how.

If you do a forum search on center console restorations you should find information and pictures that may answer your questions. I think Zips corvette even has a how to on their website. Good luck.

Google "Andy Cannizzo" in the NE - he's the "go-to-guy" for restoration of the one-year-only multi-piece anodized aluminum '63 shifter console.
