My manifold is a 62 340 hp manifold. I have a Edelbrock and I have had nothing but problems with it.

There was a '63 aluminum intake (#129?) On my 59 Vette when I got it. It had a thin 4-hole adaptor plate to go from the AFB to the Holley that was on it. I'm not sure who made the adaptor plate.

My experience is that Edelbrock carbs are sensitive to fuel pressure and heat. I've "cured" a lot of Edelbrock issues by installing a Carter low pressure fuel pump (about $20 at Summit Racing) and a 3/8" insulator gasket on some of my friends cars.

If you are certain the problem isn't in your ignition, the fuel pump and insulator gasket should do the trick.


Edelbrock carbs cannot handle fuel pressure above 6.5 PSI. This pump is good for 5.5 to 6.5 PSI. I put one on my friend's Nova and my son is running one on his Camaro. Both cars are running Edelbrock carbs.

Here is the adaptor that was on my '59. It is 1/2" thick.

Example of an Insulator Gasket

If you go with the Edelbrock insulator, do not use the Edelbrock studs. I've had bad luck with them chewing up the intake bolt holes. Don't know if they are oversize, or possibly metri-inch.
