WOW! 1.97 sec. 0-60!
I know this ain't exactly on Topic, but I just saw a Motor Trend article on Lingenfelter's new C5 - twin turbo, 802 hp, 866 ft/lb. 0-60 in 1.97 sec., 0-100 in 4.33 sec., 9.24 sec. quarter @ 150.27! Article raced it against a F/A-18 Hornet and the Lingenfelter blew its doors (canopy) off!
OK - now for the reality check: 165 BIG ones. Oh, well, like they say speed costs money - how fast you wanna go?

That would have to be their new 427TT. That's amazing how fast that thing is.. and the scary part is the C5 tuners are in a friendly competition to make the fastest streetable C5 and they aren't done yet! I think ARE is right up there with Lingenfelter, but they're using nitrous where Lingenfelter is naturally aspirated.
If you go to http://www.racingfreaks.net they have a video of a Lingenfelter 350TT racing one of those fast bikes. The C5 had a passenger recording the race, and the C5 actually ran it down at speeds of over 190! That's some fast street racing.. I think those vids are in the archives section.

Actually - it would. Here's the math ( I think )
Acceleration = 32 ft / sec / sec - meaning in 2 seconds your vette would be going 64 ft / sec.
Now divide that by 5280 ( 1 mile = 5280 feet ), multiply by 3600 ( 3600 seconds in an hour ) and ...
Your vette would be going 436 miles / hr. But then again so would mine, and so would the Lingenfelters. So you see - your vette IS JUST AS FAST has the Lingenfelter.

Actually it would be 43.6 mph - you got the decimal in the wrong place. Makes Lingenfelter look even better don't it!

Read the same article.
I actually found it quiet amusing that the car does 0-100 faster than it does 100-0. ;)

HUH OH. Actually I'm pretty sure I "fat fingered" an extra zero in the 3600 piece - same difference - your right 43 miles / hour - so I guess the Lingenfelter pulls better than 1G for at least a little while - that's scary !!!

The terminator was one scary *****!!
...for some reason that just made me laugh me azz off.
I think with slicks and a good launch Merlin could take the C-5 down. After all...He's probaby making more power and everything is new on his car meaning less mechanical loses. I think Merlin could probably take him.

Re: WOW! 1.97 sec. 0-60! (Aaron-74)
Probably making more power? If I pump up boost I can make almost twice the power of that car. I don't think that will be the problem. The problem will be trying to outdrive that car. 800HP is enough to be competitive with the best. The torque on my car will also put that car to shame, but again - that will work against me. It would certainly make for an interesting race. Personally I don't see how anyone can make a claim of a 1.97 second 0-60. I'm sure my Hayabusa was in that range, but honestly - how can you even clock such a thing? One small wheel spin & that's a second gone. I guess with today's equipment it can be measured, but I bet if you ran that car 10 times you would get 10 different times. To me, the top speed run will be a better indicator of all out power. I really want to take Lingenfelter's/Callaway's record off the books. That record belongs in the hands of the C-3 forum!!

Merlin-
I'd love to see how incredibly fast your car will be. I am here in the seattle area too, although my project is on a different order of magnitude. Do you know of any high speed events around here, preferably legal?

My heart started to race just reading your post. Can't even image what would the reaction be actually driving that thing! :D
