I started with removing the spare and carrier, front sway bar, all the junk I carried in the hatch area. Next is the skinny wheels up front.

A/C and smog equipment.
Havent weighed it all yet, but guessing close to 100# total. I'll try to weigh the smog stuff, and what A/C stuff I have left.
Spare tire setup should save a bit too. Might try to weigh that also :)
There is also the CF hood, Lexan windows, all those non-street suggested items. Race seats can save a bit as well.

I still have the a/c and a nice stereo and speakers in my car and I drive it on the street. Taking out the A/C and stereo I could get it down to about 2820 lbs. Not bad for a big ol' heavy Corvette.
Now, think about SM2 trim. Replace the hood with lightweight fiberglass (85 lbs.) same for front and rear facia (20 lbs.) go for the super light seats (also legal in BSP would save maybe 20 lbs.) over base seats, a lot more for the sport seats. Then put in a LS1/6 motor which shaves another 100 lbs. Now where could we be? 85+20+20+100=225 so a full-on early C4 SM2 Vette could weigh 2595 lbs. Forget those blown Miatas!!

I've considered trying many of these same things, but I suspect that removing too much weight without altering the spring rates will make the car's ride pretty harsh. Also, getting pushed around by gusts of wind might be more dramatic, and hydroplaning on wet roads is likely to be more of a problem as well--especially for those of us who like to run the widest tires we can get our hands on.
