Big Decision - Sell 74 Coupe & step up to convertible?
I think I'm going to do it. The 74 is a beautiful looking car & great driver, but I just can't stop looking at those damn convertibles. Plus, I usually only drive the car on nice summer days, so I really don't need a roof.
I'd like to move to a 71 or 72 convertible. It seems that these cars range from about $10k - $15k+ for one in good, clean condition (not mint, of course). Sound about right?
Guess I'll have to change my Username!

Sounds reasonable to me. Of course, selling any vette is always a tough decision. I would think that we will need a guarantee that you have another c3 sought out before we can approve the sale of the 74, but we should be able to work something out to get you the permission that this requires. :D Enjoy the vert. Of course, you have to sell yours first, and it's always easier to buy than sell.

The price calculator over on http://www.corvettemagazine.com shows a base 72 convertible with no options and "driver" condition to be valued at $10,000.

You think its easier to buy than sell? I hope so. 74s aren't one of the more desirable years, but they are still great for work & no cats baby!
I have already submitted the requiste paperwork to forum to approve the sale & acquisition. With the promise of minimal down time, of course!

I think that the latest statute says that the down time allowable for such a transfer, should you get approved, is 36 hours max. 2-10 hours is recommended to prevent CWS (corvette withdrawl syndrome), 10-24 is highly risky due to the fact that the syndrome is set in but sometimes lies dormant, causing the subject to not realize they are ill. This tends to result in reckless driving while in the family grocery getter that wasn't made for such high speed maneuvers and many times causes accidents. No driving of anything but a vette is advised anytime after the 10 hour mark. 24-36 hours without a vette is absolute craziness and should never be attempted by any red blooded human. :D :p:

My first vette was a '74. I sold it to buy a Lemans Blue '69 427 convertible and never regreted it for a minute.
