It's the Small things that will kill you every-time
I took a 2nd look at my fuel filter that came out of my Q-jet it has the check-valve. That was enough of a restriction to kill the 454 at high speed. The fuel filter I should have installed was the one with-out the ckeck valve. Can't wait to see what the real cause of the 454 overheating on the hwy. I will check the following, Timming, Put back the chin spoiler if that doesn't then I will pull the rad out and have-it dipped. If that doesn't fix it then I will pull the dual Flex a lite fans out and put back the stock fan and shroud, if that doesn't fix it then the vette will have a for sale sign.

You've got a long duration/lift cam and this alone will cause high exhaust temps. My opinion though, after going through this same problem for awhile is; (1) make sure all the air is going thru the rad and not around it. Any gaps at the shroud and rad surround need to be closed. I used 1/2" black foam rubber seals from a hardware store, they have one sticky side. (2) my stock rad even though it flowed the numbers was partially clogged due to age. A new 'Be Cool' rad fixed the prob. (3) I use Red Lines 'Waterwetter' (2 bottles) each spring with no antifreeze. Dropped my temp 20+ deg. Bottom line though IMO are items (1) and (2), with (2) being the probable.

Just looking at your sig picture...
Do I see an open space along the top of your radiator? If so, the air may be bypassing it instead of flowing through it.
Many folks use the water pipe insulation you can get at Home Depot. It's basically a long tube of gray, dense foam that makes for great stuffing around things like the edges of radiators.
Best of luck to you.
