Edelrock Carbs (Questions)
I just read an old thread about Mech vs Vac secondaries.
my question is this, aren't all Edelbrock preformer and rpm carbs Mec secondaries.
and what are your thoughts on this carberator good bad all opinions welcome.
I went to a Edelbrock preformer and I thought that it had Mech sec's but I am by no means a carb wiz however I did notice a jump in MPG and power as well as the respnse over the rochester.
oh yes it is the best carb I have ever had for No Leaks.
any help would be great.
Thanks

All 1400 series Edel. carbs are vacuum seconds.

Just like a q-jet, the throttle base plate butterflies are controlled by the mechanical linkage. But the secondaries have an air door that acutally regualtes the flow of air into the engine.

Aaron, It's nice to see someone bring up the edelbrock carb. On one of my last motors I ran a holley and spent some time tuning it, finialy got it to where I thought it was running great. Then I switched it out to a 1407. It ran much better [ drivablity] than my holley ever did. greater responce and mileage. Others may not of had as positive of a responce as me , but I like them :) As a matter of fact, i just bought a dual quad set up for my 69 and will be running 2- 1405's :D :D  :D
