I have a photo or 2 of this car on my garage wall and I think I even have the original magazine somewhere too. Now I do feel old.

Remember it. He!!, I've never seen such a thing. What's the story on it? Now that is certainly taking custom to the extreme.

Yikes !!! Another Custom!
Wait a minute, I LOVE customs !!!
Then again, at 46 years old the mind is the first to go.

Cajun...Shall we tell them some more about it yet? :D
Firstly its a 69 Vette. Just in case you hadn't already guessed. The motor was rear mounted with FOUR carbs and a Turbocharger for each carb, though only two of them were operational.
Stay tuned for further instalments. :mad

I just saw it last Saturday at the Detroit Autorama. The guy who built it died in 1990 and his wife still owns it. :D
Jerry Pennington built it and it won the Ridler award in 1972. It also won the International Championship that year. He had a custom shop in Troy, Michigan

Re: Does anyone remember this car?...Unfortunately I'm old enough to. (carcruse)
Carcruse...I saw that the car was presented at the Autorama by Jo Anne Pennington, but I wasn't sure of her relationship to Jerry. I wasn't aware he had died either. That's a real shame. He was the only person to win the Riddler Award twice apparently. The second time was the following year with a futuristic rod called the Devilfish. Another amazing vehicle.
I was astounded by the Vette from the first time I saw it in 72. I'd love to see it up close tho.
Is anyone aware of any further information on it at all?

Brutus.... I was also at the '72 and '73 Autoramas. Pennington had a custom called the "Devil Fish" in the '73 Autorama. It also won both awards. When I have time, I'll check and see if I have any old programs or magazines that have more information on the Corvette.
