I discovered that one of my rear strut rods is bent somewhat, and rather than replacing them with some costly aftermarket or oem style (that doesnt work properly i am told) my machinist says that he can make me some trick adjustable units like the VB adjustable units with heim joints :cool: for about $75. I have no doubt whatsoever as to the quality of them, but was hoping to get opinions.

Both of my strut rods were bent to compensate for badly worn differential side yokes. There should be virtually no in-out movement at the differential. Mine were worn almost to the snap ring.. NOT Good :nonod:

My thoughts are why not put a pair of Vette brakes new poly adj strut rods on in the first place, as they are relatvely inexpensive & a quality product........anyways worked for me.......... :seeya

I think you need to identify why they were bent. Some people bend them to compensate for wear, bushing, yoke ect. The problem needs to be fixed first. As far as the home made strut rods, for about $25 more you can get the Vette Brake adjustable ones with a proven track record for engineering, fit and reliability.

VB&P says the Heim joints will wear out with street use, and thus recommends the poly-bushed variety.

I've heard of Teflon-lined Heim joints. I have a small set on order to redo my clutch linkage. I don't know whether there are large versions nor whether they'd work well in a strut rod application.

Thoughts?
