I think that it origanated in the mind of a person too far gone on recreational drugs.
Yes, there may be a C3 under there.

If I recall the story from one of the Speed Channel shows, the genisis of this car was a Hotwheels design that was brough to life. Though they didn't go into any detail about how the car was built, I doubt the car ever had a Corvette as the starting point for construction. That just wouldn't make engineering sense. I can't remember the name of the car...something like twin* or dual*

This is hotwheels Twinmill. It started out as a small car that was eventually built into a full size car. Both engines did run on that Speedvision show.

Yep it was called the TWIN MILL. I had one of those when I was a kid. (Man if I had kept all of those cars....) anyway the did make it into a real driveable version and it is currently touring on the show car circuit.

How you can see past those blowesr is beyond me...

Yeah it's a hotwheels car in real life. Looking at it closely, the roof and windshield look exactly like the 67 Mako Shark's cockpit. A point in the roof and a crease down the front window, looks like there's some Corvette in it . . .

Do the engines turn in opposite directions? They should have moved the drivers seat to the middle. MJ

That was my thought exactly. How is the driver supposed to see through the engine to drive? I would be afraid I would hit something. :smash: :smash:

You guys are assuming someone does drive it. I'm sure just because it works and can drive doesn't mean someone hops in it and goes tooling down the freeway.

Definitly looks like C3 styling to me. I keep asking myself Why??? But I'm suspecting the answer is... They had too much money and Because They Can.

Just so happens I'm a C-3 owner AND a collector of "Redline" Hot Wheels. This is indeed the full size version of the TwinMill. First, a little history on the 1/64th scale version.

Mattel Inc. introduced it's How Wheels cars in 1968 with sixteen castings. All these first-year cars were based on real autos including the 1968 Stingray. (The fact that the Hot Wheels Corvette was available in stores before the real car hit the showroom is another interesting story in itself!) In 1969, Mattel introduced 24 new Hot Wheels cars including the TwinMill. It was the first "in-house" concept car made as a Hot Wheel and was designed by Ira Gilford who had spent four years on the Chevrolet design team.

Fast forward to 1998 and Mattel is about to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of Hot Wheels. As the TwinMill was their first "in house" design, they contract with street rod builder Boyd Coddington to build a working, full-size show car version. Somewhere in the process, Coddington declared bankruptcy. I don't know if he finished the car or if it was completed elsewhere.

The story on the 1968 Corvette? According to "Tomart's Price Guide to Hot Wheels," in 1967, the Hot Wheels design team wanted to produce the new Corvette Stingray. No drawings had been released and GM turned down Mattel's request for help. Harry Bradley, a former member of the GM design team and now the lead designer of Hot Wheels recalled that the GM styling department always had a door unlocked for easy access to the cafeteria. Bradley made arrangements with a friend at the center and travelled to Detroit, returning a few days later with "borrowed" plans. The Hot Wheels Corvette made it to the toy store shelves before the real car made it to the showroom. Apparently, GM threatened to sue but, the early exposure actually benefited their sales.

When I'm not playing with the Corvette, I'm always in the market to purchase Redline collections. The one who dies with the most toys wins! :D

What do you think was the origin of this car?

Look at the following:
2 motors, mounted racing boat style
Nose like a boat
Sealed cockpit

Guys I don't think this was a car...it does however look suspiciously like those boats they always have on speedvision/speedchannel...

Or is it a Transformer?

I saw this car at the last SEMA. The guy at the display said it was drivable. It looked cool, but it didn't look very comfortable or practical. Who needs practical when you can drive something that cool.

Hot Wheels Twin Mill!!

I had an original one of those from back in the early 70s. It's still around somewhere.

Oh! Are you asking what they started from to make the "real" car? I strongly doubt it has origins in any production car. If it does, it's probably built off a big old frame from a full size car.
