check out where i installed my oil pressure gauge
I took out the drivers side vent and mounted the gauge in there. I saw this in pats406nitrovette and thought it was the slickest way to install an aftermarket gauge in a c3. I dont use my heat very much through this vent, and dont even have A/C. When i do use heat, its either through the windshield defroster or to the feet, which isnt even much anyway since i dont use the car in the winter but maybe 10 times at the absolute most. Anyway, all I had to do was drill a small hole in the bottom of the duct to run the wires and tube through and put a piece of foam tape around the inside of the gauge to keep it from moving. The foam cant even be seen once inside the vent hole. If you were to see it in person, you would think that it was something Chevrolet looks like from the factory. It took me a minute to figure it out when i saw it. You may think this is Bubbaish, but like i said i think it looks stock and definitely  IMO.

Not bubbaish at all. Looks way slick! Did the '74 not come with an oil pressure gauge in the center cluster?

Since your into racing - have you considered a loss of oil pressure ignition cut out?

I like... I've got to get one of those shift lights. I'm thinking about intalling it in the center vents behind the diffuser. I also need a A/F guage too, may ace the clock for it's location. Darn thing is just weight.

It definietly beats pulling the cluster out...and im going to put another one in on the other side...either a NOS pressure gauge when i install NOS, or a fuel pressure gauge, but i dont think i can fit the isolator anywhere, and i dont think they make a electric one. So probably te NOS :D
The 74 did come with a oil gauge, but it was electric rather than mechanical. Someone bought this gauge for me 2 years ago, so i figured id throw i in once i saw it done and esp. since i trust tthe mechanical type alot more.
gkull, ive never thought about that actually. I have a oil pressure switch to shut off my elec. fuel pump, but never really heard of one for ignition...do you know who makes or sells one? thanks for the idea....always good to be safe.
Definitely would look  Budman78! Go for it.....i just wonder, will it still be bright behind here and you wontt have the option of putting the cover on at night if ya want......cool idea tho....i say go for it

Nice install Chris looks very good. The shift light Budman is great. I have mine mounted where Chris has his only mine is in the center. It has made me much more consistant. The mechanical Tach bounces around so much you can't tell if it is 5000 or 6000 when racing. I know just keep my eyes on the track and when you see the light you shift. Don't even look at the tach. I only use the tach for launching the car.

Sounds like an Idea Gordon...
But we need more than 3 or 4 c3's to show up this year.
Pat are you racing the challenge this year????

Thems be :boxing words. Sounds like a challenge. We should have out own mini challenge for carbed engines.
maybe well drag him out there one day (a non-CC race day) with some other c3's and have a little mini challenge as gordon proposes

If your can shut off the electric pump on loss of oil pressure it could be wired to cut the + to your coil with a relay. All it needs is a relay holding current when the key is turned to starter postion. Because you don't have the oil pressure switch made before the motor starts.
