Headers - How close is too close?
My Hooker SCs contacted my idler arm on the Pass side of my 427 (stock heads). I dimpled the pipes just a bit to make 'em clear. My question is, how close is too close? The dimple I added keeps the header clear of the idler arm now, but there's probably not more that 1/8" clearance. The headers have HPC coating in and out, but I'd still expect them to be pretty warm that close to the engine. I'm I gonna toast the idler arm and bushings?
I'm debating whether I keep the headers or ditch them for the stock manifolds again.

For what it is worth if you read the documentation that comes with the headers Hooker claims that when you install there headers there will be a number of spots where the header will come extremely close to the chassis and other parts. They say "This is normal and you should not worry about it" This happens due to the tight areas that they had to work with in order to get the headers to fit. I don't know about you but that still does not make me feel very happy about it.
