Default A Chartreuse Vette in '77???

Just reading another thread about 77 colors and pulled out my Corvette Black Book to take a look at the number of Tan Vettes made. Then noticed that it list Code 41, Corvette Chartreuse. Total quanity of one (1). Anyone know anything about this Vette. Something special or just something that did not catch on?

Not showing that to be available, maybe a different year. Maybe some girl at GM made a guy in the paint shop an offer he could not refuse.

I've heard of "the" Chartreuse vette... but shesh... they only made one! No telling what happened to it. The Chartreuse 77' will go from history to legend to myth pretty soon. :yesnod:

I'm quite familiar with Tan 77's though! :D

One of the Chartreuse color was made in 77, thats right.

What is this color? How does it look like or to what color does it come close?
As an 1977 owner, who´s original color was white I am interested in this ultra rare color.

PS: When restoring the headlights you can find the original color very easy!
They obviously had the adjusters for the headlights already in - mine show a lot of overspray in white which was by trim tag the original color.
I get all the larger headlight stuff glass bead blasted this week.
I already have all the nuts and bolts blasted to get them zinc plated.
The project 77 is progressing slower than thought........ :(

Wasn't that the color of John Milners car in American Graffiti. Kind of a combination of **** yellow and puke green.....

I'm pretty sure that it's mentioned in a Corvette Fever article (from a number of years ago) covering "different" paint jobs (the rare ones & the official "primer only" ones). I'll look through the stack and try to find the article if no one else has it.

Just to get an idea of what this thing would look like.

I really would like to know if this car has survived and the story that goes with it.

Chartreuse is a shade of green. I use this color quite a bit Trout Fishing. I could not imagine a vette that color though.

This car did exist. Noted Corvette Historian Noland Adams either mentioned or wrote an article sometime about how he saw it at the plant in St. Louis once when he was there gathering various Corvette production information. If I'm remembering this correctly, he said they(GM) had it sitting off to the side of the regular "production" line in one of their viewing or repair areas.

Two other unique and rare cars were the "one" 1981 code #24 "Bright Blue Metallic" car and the "one" code 39 1976 Dark Green Metallic Corvette built.

Also, used to have an "original" 1975 code "Spec" Corvette near me that was painted 1975 Cadillac Firethorn Red when it was delivered new in primer. The owner has all the paperwork showing the date, extra charge, Cadillac paint code and the Chevy dealer that did this new back in '75.
