Default East Coast Drag Racers

Have any of you guys seen the light tan 1979 Corvette Small Block that runs the 9's with cast iron exhaust manifolds and Qjet in action?
Car looks factory stock to include recapped rear tires to drag slicks on stock wheels

The car is in New Jersey or New York.

Was this car in Car Craft about 2 years ago? I thought it was a white 1980, running a big small block and in the Long Island area.

Are you looking for ideas for your next buidup?
The articles that make it in to the mags these days don't inspire confidence in me. R&T just "tested" an 850 HP Viper modded by a tuner with twin turbos but admidited in the article that they were unable to run the car due to problems withthe engine. Sure made a great cover blurb though! :jester

Yep it was in some magazine. You are probably right on color and year.I think the guy is/was a street racer.
It had a healthy and stealthy dose of Nitrous and was a big"internally" motor. As remember compression was 13.1 or above.Had supposed near stock idle. The guy would not tell specifics other than ex mods which had 4 mufflers and remote to move exhaust from stock to Borlas from interior of car.

That reminds me of a car my partner was telling me about. The guy was a buddy of Chuck Samuels. He had a n2o bottle in plain sight in the car, even a working purge system, but under the hood was a twin turbo setup. Talk about a sucker magnet, he had the ultimate sleeper. Apparently they took it to one of the NJ tracks and ran 9's (with major tire spin!) and got kicked out. He let the mag writer drive it on the way home and he reportedly hit 170+ on the interstate. If it's the same car, yeah, that be one BMF!

Nope.just be meaning to post about this for a while.

I am with ya on the Magazine articles.Gotta wear hip waders when you open the covers!

I do though like the magazines to see new products, ect.Speaking of,my Wifey likes gadjets! Please don't tell her about JC Whitney!I like the pills they sell to put in cylinders to rebuild motors

dually4wd, The legend continues! :) The story I heard was the guy had 2 bottles, one very well hidden. When asked to run without nitrous, he would remove the one bottle but still had the hidden one working. MJ
