A while back, there was a thread about putting C-5 hood hinges on a C-3. Does anyone know how that project has progressed? Are there any other hinges made that might be used, which would lift the front of the hood up and forward?

i havent really looked at a C5's engine bay... but would the tip of the hood clear the front lip?

The Mako sharks used the "clamshell" type hood. I'd be willing to bet that there's a manufacturer that makes a kit.

bence13-33, the hinges you speak of mounted to the front braces, in order to lift the front end, but there was a C-3 owner, about 2-3 months ago, who bought some C-5 hinges and was going to see if he could mount them to lift the hood up and forward. I was interested, because this would allow more space in front of the radiator for things such as fans or intercoolers. I guess he has yet to install them or they won't work.

I have a C-3 (1981)and it hinges with a stock front clip. Hood opens as normal. Once I get these pics where you can see them I'll use a link. We are getting 4inch clearance under front bumper when open. Clip is designed to remove. It will not be available as a kit for now. My signature pic doesn't work as I am at a different pc. If you want I can email a pic. We anticipate completion, paint etc by 1st of April. It uses mostly Corvette parts except for hinge itself, and needs to be done by a good fierglass body guy. Retains stock appearance and structure. hope this helps.
