Default Should I "Varsol" my lifter valley?

I am almost ready to slide my cam in and begin the reassembly of my engine. I had the heads rebuilt, but the block stayed in the engine bay.

Problem is, there is a bit of dust and general grime in the lifter valley and the lifter bores. In addition, some crud and antifreeze found their way into the cylinder bores. I have blown out with my compressor, but what next?

I don't want to rip the bottom end apart, just clean and lube it well before firing up.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jim

Take out the oil plug, then pour about 10 quarts of really cheap oil in there.

For the cylinders you should get a clean lint-free rag and soak it in gasoline, or rubbing acohol, then wipe off any junk in there, the important thing is to use something that will evaporate quickly.
