aftermarket speakers?
I have a 69 which has 4x6s in each of the kick panels but none up under the dash like the later vettes do. Anyone recommend a good-sounding aftermarket replacement 4x6 that will fit and not break the bank?

Are you sure those are not 4x6 ? I was going to add speakers down there to my 77 but deceided not to, was sure they were 4x6.

I found a really nice sounding 4x6 - I just put a pair of infinti 4x6 130 watt speakers in the kick panel of my '74 vette. They sound great. Check out the ratings they have on http://www.circuitcity.com for more information on them. Very good price too. They were less than $100 for the pair.

Check out crutchfield.com also. They list several different kinds. I bought Kenwood KFC-4674 60w 4 X 6's and they sound good to me. They were about $90 at crutchfields but got lucky and found them brand new on e-bay for $25.00!

I have Kenwood eXcelon 4"x6"s in the dash of my '77, but the have pretty beefy magnets, so they may not fit in the kick panels without some modifications.

Both Infinity and Eclipse make a really good speaker....both can be had for just under $100. I prefer Eclipse.
