Default LT1 vs. Qjet vs. L79 intake

Thinking of replacing my L79 intake with an LT1, which my engine man says works about the same as a Performer RPM. Gotta keep that stock look!
I've noticed that the aluminum Qjet manifolds of the same era are a whole lot cheaper than the LT1 manifolds. Does anyone have any information on the relative performance of the Qjet versus the LT1 manifold? Any other small-block intakes of the era worth looking at? The 350HP 350's had the Qjet, while the 370HP LT1 had the Z28/LT1 intake.

Default Re: LT1 vs. Qjet vs. L79 intake (L79vette)

Wayne, I have had outstanding results from the GM Performance Cast Iron LT1 intake manifold. Its heavy, but it accepts spread-bore as well as square bore carbs. It also has OEM choke well. I started out with a 1970 300 HP cast iron intake, replaced it with a Weiand action plus aluminum, then the GM cast iron LT1 intake. I also have an original 70 LT1 aluminum intake, which I have not tried yet, due to the fact that I have a Quadrajet that works so well I hate to bench it-( I bought it new back in 1987). I also just picked up an Edelbrock RPM Q-Jet intake to try. It is not an air gap, want to keep the OEM devorced choke set up. If you want the Original GM look, I think you'll love the cast iron LT1. All my tests were on a 70 350 with 186 heads (1.94-1.50), GM 151-350HP 327 cam, Hooker 1 5/8 competition headers, ww 4-speed, 3:55 Gears.
