#@%!! calipers leaking again!! Any suggestions??
This will be the third time in three years I have replaced one
or both front calipers on my 78. I think I have replaced two
calipers on my 82. Each time the local parts dealer has
replaced under warranty, but I still get the pleasure of doing
the work, and then talking the wife into helping me bleed the
brakes.
Any suggestions on replacement parts? I'm not going the
warranty route this time. I would rather spend the money
and get some calipers that will work for a few years (at least!).
Thanks.

About halfway down the page, Caliper 2000, zero tolerance o-ring.

Buy pistons and redo your sleeved calipers or buy an assembled caliper.

I have three calipers leaking at this time. The vette is undergoing VB Performance kit and Steeroids install at the moment. After a week of sitting up on ramps I noticed the leaking calipers. I have heard too many stories of bad vette calipers, so I am seriously considering Wilwood calipers. This will require adapter brackets, which are available from a couple of sources, one being a member here on the forum. There is also weight savings and wheel clearnace advantages. Something to think about.

For some good reading, go to this page . . . http://www.corvettefaq.com/brakes.asp . . . and check out the articles listed under "Brake Service I" and "Brake Service II".
