Tire and wheel well clearance
On my 79 i rebuilt front and rear suspension. Replaced everything. Now i have approx. 6 inches between tire and fender lip. Is this normal?

Yes. I had the same thing in the rear. I purchase the 6" bolts from VetteBrakes. That made it perfect

Your condition is normal, and that is why I installed the F41 front springs. It dropped the ride height at least 1.5 inches. I am running the VB 330lb rear spring and 17x8.5 wheels, with low profile tires. It definately sets the car off.

Even though I ran the '92 tire sizes....275/49/17 on my car with those wheels for about 5 years....I thought they looked a bit 'ricey'....too small a diameter for the wheel wells.....but now with the 255/50/17 tires in front and 275/50/17 in rear, that ricey look is gone...now it's just plain evil looking...
