According to my vin # my car was built in early november of 1968.
When I purchased the car it had a very old looking chrome shifter ball,
not black chrome. Could this have been the original one or did all 69's
have a black chrome ball regardless of build date. I replaced it with a new
black chrome ball, but now I'm wondering if that was correct.

My shifter ball turned chrome when it was very old. The black wears out some how and it looks like old chrome.
