Pro Touring C3
Hey Just wondering how many of you have or are thinking of doing a pro-touring version of a c3. if so I would like to see some pics of c3's done in this style. WHen I finally get my next project I want the pro touring look and some of the characteristics but I am not looking to invest 50 grand into making it a slalom racer. :)

I'm wanting to head kinda that way, but I'm still a long way off, but I've only had the 73 for a year now but it's showing some promise :D

Have you been here : http://www.pro-touring.com/featured_cars/cars.htm
Then just scroll down for Corvette and youll find it .its been there too long as an only "Pro-touring" Corvette and needs a company!
My next Pro touring project is coming strong....

Re: Pro Touring C3 (Madmikeee)
I have never had the time or the money to take off and do one of the protouring cruises. I would also have to invest in 18 inch rears because I'm drag strip traction limited with my 17 Z-rated rears. Also I only have 500 some hp and I would really be an underdog in those events where you have 700-800-900-1000 hp prostreeters. I have considered all kinds of lower rocker panels and rear ground effects. But I want something functional - not just for looks. I have a poorly done home page you can look at for more details if you click on my name.
The Datona front end is 150 pounds less than the stock front end. So it's a big help not only in aerodynamics. But cornering and excelaration. I also probably took another 150 pounds out from under the hood by stripping out all creature comforts and going with nearly aluminum everything. My car is 8 point roll caged legal for 9.90 class NHRA and SCCA road racing.
I guess I'm nearly a pro-touring car because I enjoy taking a 1000 mile weekend drive

Re: Pro Touring C3 (lbell101)
Well I'm going from memory here but a pro touring car is one that is pretty good at just about every performance measure there is, a jack of all trades. The normal requirements are being able to run a 12 second 1/4, pull a 1G on the skid pad, get 20mpg, have a top speed over 150mph, and be able to stop in an exceptional short distance as well. Obviously this takes a lot of money and engineering to get a car to do all of these things, but it's quite an exceptional vehicle. Of course a new Z06 with a few quirks would be right there, an older c3 takes a little bit of work, especially on the gas mileage, top speed, and handling part.

Re: Pro Touring C3
Pro-Touring is an Older muscle car or the likes that has been setup with the latest suspension technology as well as drivetrain technology (but it doesn;t have to be fuel injected etc etc) and run as a VERY dependable driver. Also included are interior amenities like new seats, AC, power windows etc. so that the cars can be driven cross country in absolute comfort. There really is not
"definition" that I have found but this is the closest I could get using my muddled old brain. :) Check out pro-touring.com it has alot of the information.
Also from what I have investigated you can get a general pro touring car on a decent budget, just don;t plan on road racing it :o)

Re: Pro Touring C3
Gkull, your car is sweet and is as pro-touring as any of the other cars I have seen. 500 hp on the street is MORE than enough and if you can take thousand mile weekend cruises in comfort you are at the EXACT point I want to go when my next project surfaces.
