I have a chance to pick up 1978 Indy pace car for $9500 in good overall condition w/41000 miles needs tune up/shocks and other minor things, body and paint good to 5 feet. Is this a good deal?

Hi Mick, sounds good but you must ensure its a real one as you know.8th digit of vin must be 9 not 4, trim badge on door pillar should be 152 (if silver leather)& 47M(pace car paint).I paid 12,000 pounds ($17,000) for mine last year and its a beauty, 29k L82, Auto.The problem is I daren't change anything from stock as this may alter its value so everything is standard.It came second in the corvette nationals over here last year and I love pace cars and am delving into all the serial nos on the glass,seat belts,engine parts etc. 9,500 seems a deal to me.
