Fuel line replacement w/ body on???
Can the fuel lines be replaced with out removing the body or adding an extra joint fitting? Has anybody done this?

recently installed new stainless lines on mine (78) and I think I saw somewhere in one of my books, it can't be done with the body on.
suggestion: patch your existing lines with hoses and next winter raise the body a few inches. replace the fuel lines, brake lines, rag joint, rear (#4)body supports, clean and paint the entire frame and gas tank. lots of other PM stuff you could do. it is a beast of a job but well worth it.

The line runs through the crossmember at the rear of the trans. Then add in the angle of the kick up at the rear and the closness of the body in that area and it cannot be done in one piece with the body on. I am currently in the process of replacing the lines on mine and I am going to have to split the line to get it in.

Tom,
Where would you make the cut? Assume buying a new line preformed. And what connectors would you use for fuel?

We replaced the lines with the body off, and it was STILL a pain in the butt. Lots of bends and turns, and even with a preformed line we had to rebend it in a couple of areas. I can't imagine getting that thing in there with the body on, at least not if you're routing it to the original location.

I replaced mine with the body on and it wasnt that big of a deal, ( at least compared to sawing off the T-Arm bolts  )
Dont bother paying the bucks for the pre bent lines because they wont be "pre-bent" after you are done fishing them around the rear kick up.
Go to your local parts store and buy the straight line and bend it yourself as you go along. I did mine in 2pcs. I used compression fittings just behind the trans cross member. Took me all of 1 hour. Looks great too. :D
