Default Got a 377 Stroker, high performance 700R4, now I need TPI, Help!!

So I got my car back about 2 weeks ago with a new custom 377 Stroker Motor, a rebuilt high performance 700R4 Tranny, and the same old crossfire back in it. It is amazing what a stroker motor does to Corvette, even a Crossfire Vette. The pickup is just so much better, the gas mileage is a little better, and it sounds better than ever thanks to the 2 chamber flowmaster I added on. Now I want to add TPI to make it the ultimate car for me. I've been checking prices on Ebay for TPI units and they seem to lie in the $250-$600 range depending on what comes with the unit. I want to get the speed density system. Someone offered me a TPI unit off of an 88 305 Camaro. He said it will come with the manifold, runners, plenum, and injectors. He wants to charge me $300. Is this a good deal?? I still have to buy sensors, the computer, chip, distributor, etc. Does anyone know of a better deal??????

Let me know!

Thanks :D

With the money that you are spending on the TPI setup, you could easily make the cross-fire work with that engine. Check this site out. There are allot of guys on this site that can help. Check it out.

Both the X-Fire & TPI were designed for 305 & are restrictive.

Judging from what I see at most shows, it seems a LOT of the TPI systems are all dirty and dinged up on the runners, and most of the injectors are a mess..
need professional cleaning at minimum....some are so badly rusted they are junk...I can't for the life of me figger how in hell an injector could get water into it, but it seems they do....somehow....rusted shut, I couldn't believe it some time ago and actually cut some injectors apart from sever TPI purchases....rust....
so having said that....
I think buying pieces and building one up is a better way to go...
everyone says the TPI is limited, but no one ever says just how bad, and if it's camshaft related....and there was a thread on here that siameseing the manifold runners on the tube side will change the upper RPM tuning enough to allow better breathing....so maybe it's not such a bad deal...
I know to get a good looking stock unit installed will run a minimum of 750 bucks, and should NOT be over a grand....about 1/2 the price of most any aftermarket setup, and that is significant...a grand and all....

I don't know what your budget is, but if you want a plug in and go system, check with street and performance in Mena, Ark.

I saw one at a tranny shop the other day in a box of junk. I can get you the number. I'm not sure if it's for sale, but It can not hurt to call. TPIS makes a LT-1 type manifold that uses the stock TPI throttle body and injector rail. It would fit under your hood better. Also why a speed dense system? Is the TPI something you are looking at for torque or just the cool factor?

$600 for a good used junkyard system is a good deal. "Good" means complete and not hacked up. http://www.tunedport.com http://www.fuelinjectionspecialist.com http://www.tpis.com

I found it!!!!! Yes that's right!!!! I found a great TPI unit!! The runners are not bent, it looks great!! no dirt, no grime, no defects. It comes with the injectors, all sensors, wiring harness, and the speed density computer and chip. I got a great deal for $400!!!! Now I need to dissaseble it, get the wire harness customized for my car, get all the miscellanious parts, and then put it in. I could hardly wait. What I'd like to do is make a Tech Article to post here which will outline the specific parts I used (part numbers included) how much time something like this should take, and what vendors offer good prices on this. After this is all done, my crossfire unit will go up on Ebay!!!! Hopefully I can make a little cash off that!!

So tell me, who can customize the wiring harness?? where can I get the correct fuel lines that I need?? Are there any articles out there on how to install this??

Thanks again

:D

Wiring harness http://www.painlesswiring.com
Fuel lines are fine, you will need to swap out your fuel pump to a 85 or better Corvette.
Your going to have to fabricate a duct system for the MAF sensor. That should do it.

"The wiring harness can be bought for a few hundred bucks, but IF you can slder wires, and can get near free harness parts/wire from a junkyard you may be able to solder up your own harness, tape it up and cover it with spiral wrap, some such..make it look factory in other words...do Not assume anything other thqn soldering will be good enough, it won't;... that means clean copper ;and good electroinic solder...
