Default ROCKER PANEL QUESTION ??????????

I'm not sure what this is called so I will just give it a shot. I am in need of the metal insert that goes in the rocker panel on my 75 Vette, this is the piece that slides down over the main frame and runs from like the front of the door to the front of the rear wheel. Mine are rusted out where the body mounts go. Anyone know if you can buy these or who I can check with.

Are you refering to the trim piece that runs along the bottom of the body between the wheel wells and is held on with screws? or are you refering to the bottom section of the metal cage that goes around the passanger compartment?

Sounds like you are talking about the sill plates. All of the vendors (Zip, Corvette Central, etc.) carry them and they are not very expensive. You can click on the Restoration Store tab at the top of this page and you'll go to Zip and get a 5% discount.

This may be what he is talking about since I also need help with these. What I am referring to, is when I took my rocker panel trim off, some of the screws were rusted and broke off in the retainers they are screwed into. Can these retainers be removed and new ones installed?

Yes, here is the mount kit. I used stainless steel machine screws on mine so the corrosion problem would not re-occur.

No problem! Put the SS screws in with WD40 and you will never have problems taking them off again. Did the conversion when I switched to side pipes two years ago. The pipes did not last (too loud) but the SS screws are still there.

Hey guys, thanks for all your input but what I was looking for is called a (frame cage) it's actually the main metal support that runs under your rocker panel cover on the body. when you set your body down on the frame this is what mounts the body to the main frame. I found the pieces I need but it's going to be a hell of a lot of work to install them.

Here are a pair of rusted ones...

Take a look at my web site, http://www.1973-corvette.com , and then click on "Restoration Project". You may find some good info there.
