New Pearl Paint!!!! - PICS [BiG]
Just wanted to post some pics of my new paintjob, the car has been at the body shop for the last 7 months, had the fiberglass all redone, the drivetrain was rebuilt, along with the suspension. The paint is a custom PPG mix basecoat/clearcoat. Started out with a maroon, then added a bunch of violet and red. Added a light gold metal flake. And the best part, as you can see in the pics is the 75 parts bright white pearl added. The car looks silver if you look down the lines in the sunlight, none of these pics show it too well, the first one kind of does. It was primed and blocked three times, a black basecoat was layed down, and was finished with a violet tinted sealer, then four coats of clear. I'm really happy with the outcome, i think the shop did a great job, and i'm just curious to what all you guys/gals think :D
thanks for having a look!
My better half didn't want to have her picture posted *sigh* ;)
You can see the pearl pretty good here.
Pearl good :)
The total Damage: 226 labor hours (paint/fiberglass/chassis), you do the figuring. :cry

Looks GREAT!!! Looks like brand new. If you drive it in the snow, better be real careful.
i just pulled it out of the garage to take a couple pics
With those tires it barely moves in snow, you turn the tires and
it keeps going straight (The only reason i know this is because i moved
it from one shop to another and had some difficulties in 1 inch snow)
Luckily MT winters have been really nice the last couple years, it was almost
60 today, clear roads, so i went for a cruise with open headers  :yesnod:

The car looks GREAT!
The girl is freakin' me out though. Didn't I see her on the "Sixth Sense" or something?
BTW, you don't mention how the drivetrain & suspension rebuild turned out. Did you go stock or modified?

jerryp58: he he he, she wouldn't let me put the picture up unless i blurred it, apparently it wasn't "up to snuff" *sigh* The suspension came out pretty good, its back to stock gynkahna specs, its lowered about 2 inches overall, and will be getting a front transverse leaf kit from VBP this spring :) I'm considering the steeroids kit as well.
SevenT1Shark: Thanks, in fear of the fact that i may have been severly gouged by the that did it, i'd rather not think about the price and just enjoy the result :)
Eddie 96: Thanks! :) The car was actually pretty dusty that day, the paint has had no polishing/glaze execpt for the extensive wetsanding and buffing, i'm taking it back to the same shop to have it polished and waxed next month, i'm hoping it will really shine then :)
Thanks for all the compliments, i bought the car with a 5'-10' foot paint job, which was fine, i was about the only one who ever knew about the imperfections, its a great hobby i was fortunate to get into while in highschool, i'm hoping to purchase a late C4 in the next year or so, and would love to own a chrome bumber C3 some day, 2 favorite years are the '74 and '73. 71,454,4spd I love the color of your car, lookin
what C3's don't? :) :chevy:
