help, think i messed up transmission!!
Last night i was backing out of a friends driveway, (th350) and i dropped it from reverse to 1st and hit the gas and all of a sudden first gear feels like its vibrating, under the drivers seat and stuff, its all werid feeling, then i shift to 2nd and 3rd and its fine...anyone know whats going on and what i have to do to fix this?

I'm afraid I don't know a lot about transmissions, but the first thing I thought of was the mount. You might have damaged or broken it.
Does it vibrate from a stop if you start off in second? I would think that'd point to the mount. If not, you may have messed up 1st gear.
Good Lucck.

I'm not an expert either, but, when I got Flowmasters put on my '74 Monte Carlo I did the requisite burnout out of the muffler shop lot and immediately started experiencing the exact same problem you have, only in second. Would roll out fine in first, hit second and the whole drivetrain would vibrate and shake, hit third, no problem. Anyway, nursed it home and parked it. I asked around and got the overwhelming fellow driveway mechanic response that I had toasted the tranny. I just bit the bullet and went and got another. I wasn't woried about matching #'s, and had little cash, so I went to a local pic-a-part and just bought a used TH350 from a '72 Impala and slapped it in. Put in a B&M shift improver at the same time, filter and fluid, and I've been romping on it ever since (about 15mo. now). Total cost-$125 for tranny w/90 day warranty+core return, $25 shift kit, and a days labor. Can't beat that. Good luck.

I don't think you will hurt anything by driving it, you probably won't be in 1st gear much anyways. Look at where the tranny attaches to the frame. See if anything looks out of the ordinary.
