Default reassembly tommorrow - last minute tips?

Well the rear end goes back in tommorrow morning - I installed the side yokes and seals today and attached the crossmember to the diff so it will be ready to put in place first thing in the morning. Every thing is shiny and clean so it should be a pleasurable day with an estimated two hours to put it all back together.
Tho only thing I am not looking forward to is bleeding the rear brakes - I have a friend with a pressure bleeder and I hope he will be able to bring it with him.

So...............

Any last minute tips on Alignment?
Im planning on using a liberal amoutn of anti-seize on - well just about everything - good idea? bad?

I will make sure to post picts later tommorow.

You didn't say if you already had the TA's all done with SS shims or if you have smart struts? The best thing you can do is when it's all back together. is push it up and down on the floor and a little forward and reverse with power brake. then see how it settles out. A regular bubble level one the side walls is enough to drive to the optical alignment shop.

I hope that you bought the HD rear end cover.

I forgot to uncheck that pic sig. She's coming up on 17 now and JR in high school. She keeps asking if she can take the old Vette to "RICE" steet races

I let her drive with me in it.

A couple of simple suggestions which you probably already plan to do, but:

Make sure to double check the torque and tightness on all bolts: :smash:
And little things like cotter pins and french locks:
I wouldn't just bleed the back brakes, bleed the front again too. And check for leaks:
Don't forget to put the gear oil in the rear: :D
Parking Brakes cables:
Careful torqueing the rear spring in so not to crack the rear: :smash:

Take plenty of pitcures to show us:

pictures as promised

Went together really easy with little problems - sway bar mounts were a little bit of a task but other than that it all pretty much fell together.

No smart struts but I do have the 1/2" thick spacer to lower the rear roll center, but I do have VB poly struts - offset trailing arms and bearings from Bairs - all stainless shims - new cotters - new poly pinion snubber etc.....

Eric,

Nice to finally see your car almost back together!! Let's do lunch soon like you mentioned in the other post!! Maybe this Thursday, I will call you! (I am having the machine start on the short block!!!- I am very happy about this!)

I would try and set a few of those shims on both sides of the bushing. I wrote down how many were on both the pass side and driver side before I took them apart. I am not sure if you did this, but obviously it is too late if you didn't. I would just estimate what should be there until you get to the machine shop!!

Bob

Wow thats clean!

What are the aluminum? disks on the differential crossmember mounts? Did you eliminate the bushings with these aluminum disks?

the aluminum disks are teh Vette Brakes stiffening kit - they use a tud into the nib on the frame - you bolt the crossmember on with one nut then install the aluminum disk which helps keep the bushing square to the frame - so far as I can tell it is going to reduce a lot of potential for flex in this area.
