Default Who makes a racing seat that will fit into a C3?

I would like to buy a racing seat for autocrossing and light road racing. Does anyone know of racing seat that will fit in a C3 and allow enough head for a 6' man and leave room for a helmet?
Thanks, Dan

They have some nice seats, and it SEEMS they'll fit. As for height, I know not. If the Corbeaus go well, gimme a shout! I might pick up a pair.

This is what I did!:) They are about $350 each for the Ultras. The ajustable mousts are @ $140 each. The 3inch 5 point belts are a couple hun. The 8 point role cage is for personal safety. Then your well on the way to not daily driver. I do, but the getting in and out is tough!:)

Pacin'California - I've check them out. Nice seats at a fair price, but will my big head fit with a helmet on?

gkull-That's a great price. Will a 6' person with a helmet fit in your seat with the tops on? I'll check that brand out. I got a great price on a RCI seat but I can't get my helmet on with the tops on.

Thanks, Dan

My car was in the roll cage shop this weekend so I didn't get a chance to measure how much room was above my helmet. I'm 5'10". The seating position is higher than stock seats. At first I was going to change the angle of the rear tilt of the seat which would give you additional head room. Then I started to like th more upright driving position.

The ultra seat is made for slender builds under 200 lbs. Some web sites give the exact measurements of the Sparco line of seats. One of the guys here on the forum from Texas is using the upgraded larger Sparco. I can't remember his name. But it's @ $500 each.

gkull-Living in Washington State requires me to has my tops on most of the time because of rain. Let me when you find out how the head clearence works out. Do you plan on road racing soon? I plan on running my shark at PIR (Portland International Raceway) this summer for track days. It sould be awesome. I sell a mount for 2.5" ABC Amerex Fire extinguisher that mount in front of the seat and bolt up to the front seat mounts. E-mail me if your interested.

I've made hundred of laps at PIR in 750 superbike and 600 supersport. I've attended American LaMans series and CART events there.

I like your bottle placement. But for rules I have to install a onboard fire system. I'm going to get the 5# system from Summit racing. The rules specify that you have to spray down each side of the motor and one from the steering wheel directed at the driver. How much for the mount? I might put a hand held in to car anyway. Only it would have to go on the passeger side.

How are your 5 points held in place now? RJS belts have a nice cam lock that I have practised in the dark so I can get out in less than 15 seconds. The bars are the big thing and I'm also buying the tethered helmet supports.

if you cant find any you like... you can drop your floor pans. Alot of work getting the interior out. but you'll fit

Recaro is what comes to mind. If you arent going for looks, summit has some cool seats... cheap anyway :jester

gkull-Nice set up. You mean business. I can make this extinguisher bracket for either side. I offer the mount with either red or Chrome 2 1/2 LBS Amerex ABC fire extinguishers. These extinguishers are very good quality and are rechargeable. No plastic parts with this mount or extinguisher. The cost for the red extinguisher w/bracket is $80.00 and $100.00 for the chrome extinguisher w/bracket plus shipping. This mount is very strong and is made from 1/4"x1" cold rolled flat bar. I designed this mount to serve as a submarine belt mount for a 5 point harness. Oviously you won't need that. The extinguisher bracket mounts very easily to the front two bolts that attach the seat. when mounting this bracket the seat must be adjust all the way back and will not adjust forward with the bracket in place. I paint the brackets with PPG black urethane paint. If your interested. e-mail me at http://www.vettedan@worldnet.att.net

Well Vette Dan it's like this. I'm not really into drag racing anymore. I'm more into spectating at road racing because of the expences involved. So my goal for the old Vette is to have one of very few street legal c-3's that have been verified at over 200 mph by a regular sanctioning body event.

The Southern California Timing Association at Bonneville Salt Flats.

My goal is simple. The rules are tough!

I have Kirkey aluminum seats for autocrossing..
Not comfortable - but lots of "road feel" and lateral support..

gkull-Ditto's with the drag racing. Once I started autocrossing, you get hooked. The thrill last far longer and it take much more still than just having a lot of hp.

I am working on a friends 70 and he bought the Rally seat from Scat Enterprises. We haven't put them in yet but they seem to be a good fit.
Here's a link to them: http://www.procarbyscat.com/rallydiabig.jpeg

Corbeau has advised that the Targa is too wide. You have to go with the A4. They can also supply tracks to fit the car.

I installed 1994 Corvette seats in my 69. They fit great after some mods.

Here is a shot of the roll bars I had built that tie in under the seat and to the b-pillar for the five point. I will have the seats covered in black.

You have a 90' Corvette 6-speed transmission in your 69?
Is it a ZF40? Could you tell me about the installation of that transmission? (What parts and modifications are necessary etc...)

Thank you

No, my sig pic is broken down, and it looks confusing.

I have a 69 convertible big block four speed, and a 1990 six speed coupe.

Thanks for pointing that out.

On second thought - that was what I was thinking!
I am so determined to convert my 68 to 6-speed that I get excited only by reading 6-speed anywhere!

Vettedan - With my seats and mounting your head would be touching the T_Top interior panels. I put on my helmet and drove around. I clear at 5'10" But I could stretch and touch the roof. The whole problem is racing seats don't let you sink down like a stock seat. That's why I'm considering modifying the raised floor under the seat.

Redvetracr Pointed this valuable fact out. You don't want a racing seat that has the ability to fold forward. They are not safe during an impact.

My Sparco seat weights 12.6 pounds and is fiberglass which allows flex in an impact - Safer that ridged aluminum.

gkull- Thanks, I was worried about that. I ran into this with the RCI seats. I bought a used seat really cheap, but the seat doesn't sink down enough. My hair rub the t-top.
Thanks for everyone's comment. I need to sort out what to do. If anyone else is using a seat that will allow for a helmet for a 6.0' person, let me know.
Thanks, Dan
