Default Big-block: "shorty" headers / aftermarket hood

I'm planning the swap of a big-block into my 1981.

1) Can anyone recommend some "shorty" headers? What I'm getting at is I don't want to have to deal with the headers dragging the ground, so I want some that come down to about the level of the floorboard, so I could hook up my exhaust pipes at that point and the clearance would be just like manifolds, but they'd flow better and weigh less.

2) I'm going to need a hood, and I'm thinking one that either mocks the L-88 or the stinger hoods would be best. Any ideas, or even hoods for sell out there? :reddevil [IMG][/IMG]

MassVett: So, apparently you've been through the swap. Or, maybe you bought the car already with the big-block. I'd greatly appreciate any specific advice you might have on the details. Also, how much did you have to notch the back of the hole in the floorboard to clear the shifter for your Richmond 6-speed? Who did your custom crossmember for the 6-speed?

Thanks

If you're taking votes on the hood--I say stinger. I've only seen one C3 with a stinger hood (a red vert with a black stinger here on the forum), but it was one of the best looking cars I've ever seen. I've wanted a stinger myself ever since.

I got a set of Jet hot coated Sandersons last month, excellent quality and fit good, they were there number BB5, $435 for the pair. They are 16 gage tubing 1 7\8 into a 3" collector. Give em a call, they no their stuff and they are made in the USA!!!

Hey MassVette. Is the hood what gives your car the sharp lines? Or have you done some other front-end mods to make it look that way? Maybe it's the angle but when I look at that it looks, literally, like it's got knife edges. Very  !

Thanks to all of you. As usual, you were very helpful. The Sanderson BB5 headers are EXACTLY what I was looking for.

FYI: Sanderson BB5's will not fit raised-port heads. I am removing my 5-year old pair to install Stahl sidepipe headers. You could have mine, but the no. 1 pipe is ruined, I smashed it near flat to try and clear the steering box. Otherwise, they are pretty good pipes. Thick steel but the welds are sloppy. Ceramic coating held up well, better than a newer set of hooker supercomps I installed on my '64.
