Default C3 Stats-How Many Remain?

There were 542,411 C3s produced between 1968 and 1982. How many remain? I do not know the answer but let's guess....In terms of % of original production numbers.

I'm not sure I understand what this poll is about...

Are you trying to get a tally, or what?

Matching numbers too  ! I don't care about that part, but for stats, I thought I would put it in there.

Seems to me an '80 is a lot more like the cars in the '81-'82 category than '78-'79.

I read somewhere (don't remember where, ncrs site maybe ?)
That 95% of all corvettes ever made were still registered.
Not counting all the ones that arnt registered.
Is that what your asking ? :)

You are a lively audience as usual! Love it. But here are the stats:
1968-28,566
1969-38,762
1970-17,316
1971-21,801
1972-27,004
1973-30,464
1974-37,502
1975-38,465
1976-46,558
1977-49,213
1978-46,776
1979-53,807
1980-40,164
1981-40,606
1982-25,407

There is your 542,411 C3 units.

The question is how many do you think in each category (or overall in C3) are still out there and on the road?

I am simply asking the members of the Forum what percentage of C3s produced from 1968 to 1982 do they think are still on the road.

PS-I guess I should go back to school and get a degree in Marketing :) . I thought that I had asked a simple question.

I agree re the integrated front and rear spoilers. The poll is not perfect.

Was watching Car and Driver today.
In 14 years, 540 thousand Corvettes. Car and Driver says 400,000 Toyota Corollas will be sold in 2k3.
Makes ya think, doesn't it?
For every 100 ****boxes on the road, there's maybe one of our cars.
Didn't Mustang produce the millionth unit in like, one of the first generation production years? Corvette didn't manage that until like the early 90's. Not ******* vettes, actually, it just shows how special our cars truly are.

That's pretty interesting, Steve. I have heard that the Mustang was America's #1 selling car for awhile, probably around '65 or '66.

I'm 41 now, and I do remember when there were just gobs of Mustangs on the road.

It appears that the question was simple, but the execution of the poll mucked things up. :)

My GUESS would be somewhere around 75%, in some sort of "active" duty.
(Registered, Driven, Being restored, etc.)

I could be high, seems to be several C3 salvage yards, parting or crushing cars.

Almost ALL the C3's I see are the '76-'82 models. I rarely see any chrome bumper cars. :nonod:

anar said he heard ...95%.. that seems like a huge #..think of all the accedent write -offs and totaled vettes..if that is the right # it has to be higher than for any other american car for sure

The 1,000,000th Mustang was made in 1967. Just 3 years after it went into production. I think I have somewhere around the 50,000th 64 1/2 Mustang. Mine was made, I think, in the last month that they were still referred to as 64 1/2.

I'll bet that less than 35% of steel bumpers are alive and well and about 50% of the rubber bumpers are still cruising the roads today!
