Default 1982 Paint question

Does anyone know FOR SURE when they switched to base coat/clear coat ? Was it for the whole model year run, just the Collector editions, or a partial year??? If a partial, do you know when it started(date or VIN)??

Default Re: 1982 Paint question (Magnum '82)

My reference book says:

"All 1978-80 cars were painted with acrylic lacquer. All 1981s assembled in the old St. Louis, Missouri, Corvette factory were also painted with acrylic lacquer. During production of the 1981 models, Corvette assembly was moved to a new factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky. All 1981s assembled in Bowling Green, as well as all 1982s, were painted with an acrylic enamel base coat/clear coat system."

VINs for 1981 were:
1G1AY8764BS400001-1G1AY8764BS431611 (St. Louis)
1G1AY8764B5100001-1G1AY8764B5108995 (Bowling Green)

(Corvette Restoration Guide/1968-1982. Richard Prince, MBI Publishing, 1999. ISBN 0-7603-0657-5)

Another reference.
