What is best for cleaning old windows?
I was wondering what is best to clean and remove grim, haze and minor scratches from windows? I saw on some car tv show that bar cleanser, like used in pubs does the trick. :bb

Try window cleaner with newspaper, I've heard that the newspaper is suppose to work really good at cleaning windows, but maybe it's just :bs . Give it a try and let us know how it works  .

I like to use vinegar or amonia and flood the window and then use 00000 steel wool, take a nice soft cloth and wipe clean.

I've used toothpaste to "brighten up" my tail light lenses and it worked great. It took some elbow grease, but it removed all the surface scratches and built up gunk inside and out. I've heard that toothpaste also removes tiny scratches in clowdy glass..never tried it though...

There are a couple of products that worked for me. A powdered clenser called Bon-Ami works well on hard water spots as does rubbing compound. Vinegar will work on some spots but not all.
Newspaper is excellent with window cleaner. I have heard (?) that it is the lead in the ink that helps polish the glass.

I saw on one of those car shows a guy using windex to saturate the window before using 00000 steel wool on a viper windshield, they said it's the show car trick... I'm going to try it once I decide to wash my car again, when it warms up...

Zaino's glass polish is the ONLY stuff that removed some hard water stains on my rear window. I tried everything, and was shocked when the Zaino worked.
