Default Big Grudge match race is tonight!!!!

Tonight Shelby Bill and I will be lining up at the 1/8 mile. Wish me luck. Corvette Small block vs Shelby GT big block. I'm saving the funny juice if I get behind.

Can you get slicks and a line lock in time? :D

I don't know your rear gears, but years back it was a two gear race in the 1/8 with my 700R4 with 28 inch tires. so you can win or loose in the first 60 feet.

I may run the slicks. Just need to check out track conditions. Denton's track can get very slippery when dusty. Nothing like ice skating through the finish line. I think we are going late, so it will give the ricers a chance to clean the track withthose big tail pipes.

I have found that 10psi left and 10.5 right gets the max burn width with the best straight line launch control. Just remember to tippy toe around the turn around road because the rear will have a very unsafe feeling in low speed turns :chevy

When you say Shelby big block are you meaning an AC Shelby Cobra? Or a Shelby Mustang?

Well thanks for all the well wishers. The story plays out pretty much like this. We all meet up and caravaned to Denton Raceway Park which is a 1/8 older drag strip. It was very interesting to watch them prepare the track with the traction compound and FIRE. After pre-race preperation of removing ralley caps and pulling air cleaners, we went to tech.

I lined up against Shelby Bill and did the normal burnout and stage. I cut Bill by .300 on the tree, but he ran me down at half track. Gears, Gears, Gears.
That Mustang runs through the gears fast.
60 foot times
Bill was at 2.1 compared to my 2.2. Bill pulled two car lengths ahead and it was over, 8.8 to 9.7. I was unable to hit the NOS because of Summit racing inability to deliver a #22 jet. That was my only chance of beating this car. Or maybe cutting a better light. I did have 100 hp jets installed, but with no test and tune of the system, I didn't think it was smart let it all out.

Other runs of the night included.
9.6 at 71 with a .784 and a 2.1 60 footer(SOLO)
9.7 at 70 with a .620 and a 2.1 60 footer(WIN)

and my favorite race agains a Cuda with slicks that I smoked on the line and beat.
9.6 at 71 with a .561 and a 2.1 60 footer(WIN)

I learn alot about racing last night. 1) Shift points are everything. 2) Reaction time is the key to winning a grudge match, not power. 3) Have fun!!

Thanks for the support and look for future mods.

I found Shelby Bills response on the Ford Forum.http://www.network54.com/Hide/Forum/message?forumid=74182&messageid=10138719 58
:D I like the comment about the NOS. I guess the grudge will live on.

Other than that one little slam, he didn't talk tooo much smack!
Will you be ready for a re-match before the year is up?

"Result of Vette grudge match, beat Vette by full second. He has NOS, but was afraid to use it, don't blame him, but then why put it on.
