Default Exhaust Leak???

Some of you may have read my thread about how an exhaust shop tried to quadruple the estimate they gave me and I decided to just take my Vette home and do the work myself. Well... I removed the catalytic converter before I brought it down to the shop. This evening, I put the cat. conv. back on and it does not make as clean a seal as it used to and there is a small exhaust leak. Is it damaging to my engine to drive like this?

Thanks again for your advice.

No. You could try to tighten more.

It will stink pretty bad if the leak is upstream from the cat, and I wouldn't like the thought of hot exhaust blowing right up on the floorboards, if the leak is on top.

I'm having trouble getting my dynomax headers to seal at the heads. I saw a car locally the other day that used the red hightemp sealant at his header to head interface. I'm actually thinking of using this stuff. My automotive parts guy said it would not hurt anything to try it. You may also consider using just a touch.

Regards,

Jim
