Default It wasn't my MSD 6AL that fried. and rejetting questions

It turns out that my MSD 6AL isn't the reason my Vette died last weekend. Although I measure every voltage to the device, ran all the diagnostics I could , it tested bad. Turns out the power wire at the battery was able to carry the voltage 12.5 V it couldn't carry the current required to run the device. Note to every one installing these. Use a heavy guage wire to the battery (10 ga) and use good terminals on the battery.

The culprit was a partially broken terminal connector. Aarrgh. :smash:

It's up and running again.

Now I am going to rejet to lean out a little. Currently running 72 primary and 75 secondary on my Holly 770 Avenenger. A/F ratio is around 12.1 avg

If I go down one or tow jets sizes to lean this out, what will happen to the power????

Did I ever tell you about my ride home from the dragstrip? On a rollback?
Same deal. :( MJ

MSD offers a service to repair your MSD box had it been bad. Most of the ones we've sent in were repaired for less than $35. If changing your jets brings the A/F ratio into a more favorable range then power should improve. What is the comp ratio of your pistons? How much cylinder pressure do you have with that combination (cam, pistons)?

Glad to hear it was not your MSD. I have been running a post on the MSD Digital 6 looks like I am gonna go that way and save the add on boxes. Glad your back on the road.

Comp ratio is 9.6:1. Cam pistons in my Sig.

You will likely gain power by going somewhat leaner. About 12.8:1 should do it. Some engine like even leaner mixtures. The GEN2 LT1's, for instance, make peak power at a relatively lean 13.2:1. So experiment on the dyno, if you have the opportunity.
