Any of you guys build highly detialed models of your cars???
Thanks to 75Corvette I'm currently builing one exact to my car. - (Joe - you are a hell of a guy! :D)
This is the last one I built -
It's a 69 ragtop which was as close as I could find to my car (mine is a coupe) and is pretty detialed. I built this about 3 years ago but I wanted to do one that was more accurate. (that one has a BB and it's a ragtop and all!)
Joe had a 69 coupe model (which I think was a collectors item due to it's rareity and an error which was printed on the front of the box which) which he was kind enough to part with!!! To make a long story short... I'm trying to build it exact to my car!!! Mods and all!
I'm going to need to purchase another model that has some of the other pieces I will need for the small block motor, electric fans and all but I think it will be pretty cool when it's finally finished!
Anyone else ever do this??? Go any tips for me???? Maybe where I can track down Mods for models???
Ohhhh there are some more pics of this model(and the one I'll be building) at http://community.webshots.com/album/31110778zfagruqcoy if you want to check em out!

The model is the one at the bottom right. Real close to my Vette except for the L88 hood. I would like find a larger scale model that matches my car exactly. Would look  sitting on top of the computer.

I have a '69 Revell metal 1/18 that looks exactly like your vette right down to the sidepipes.
Not hard to find.

Hey Joe,
If you ever see it again let me know where so I can pick it up.
I found a metal 1/18 coupe, but no BB verts. My wife even helps me now, when we go into toy or hobby shops she also looks through the boxes for my car.

I have the same model as MNJack, but I'm converting it to a '69. There's nothing to it, and any mods can be found in other kits (wheels, tires, seats, etc) or at quality hobby shops (wiring, door handles, etc.) I spend most of my time on paint and detail work. Is that yellow one a 1/8 scale metal BB? I'd sure like to find one of those. :yesnod:

I'm working on a custom 74 convertible right now. :D I'm using it to build a model of what I want to turn my car into. I have two 75 convertible kits. One from when I was a kid and the other I just bought so I can build one test model and hoepfully a final version. I used to build models all the time and loved to customize them.
Mike69,
I also have the kit of the legendary 1969 429 coupe. It's in the box untouched. Very nice of another member to give that to you. I have boxes of wheels, tire and engine parts. Let me know if your having trouble locating something.

I have always wanted to find one and put it together, but I have never seen a 70' Model. If anyone knows where I could pick one up, just let me know and I'll go grab one

Wrencher... How are you going to convert it? Do you use that model putty? I was origionally going to try and convert the rag top to a coupe with that stuff. After playing with it for a little while, I figured I had better leave well enough alone!!!! :D

I plan to strip this one and paint it beige like my 1979 L-82 with the RPO D80 option.

Yea, I used the putty on the door buttons and the back up lights. It would be tough to do the coupe top with it. Cut the top off of a later coupe, or something. By the way, after you paint and color sand, etc., I top it with 3 coats of FUTURE acrylic floor finish. This stuff has to be airbrushed, but it will not yellow like the regular TESTORS clearcoat, and it looks like its wet when your done! A Zaino finish!

my pics are at the mercy of the forum homepages, which were working earlier today and maybe are not working now.
About the tires: Mike, it is so easy, but unfortunately I screwed up 2 of them before I figured out how to do it. The tires in the kit were actual raised letter tires - The letters were fully encircled by raised rubber ridges. So all I had to do was thin some white paint to get it real runny. Then i just touched the inside of the letter with a toothpick dipped in the paint, and the paint just automatically filled the letter. Bingo.
There is also a website around that has several examples of these models done to professional standards. I will try to find it. MJ

I found it! Check these out. The workmanship on these models is unbelievable! Mike, there is a 69 coupe for you and they all list the kit # that was used to make the model. The discontinued kits can often be found on ebay. Also there was a guy at Carlisle that had a bunch of models. MJ

How about this: A one of a kind 1982 Collector Edition Hotwheels model.:D
Started with the black 1982 Hotwheels Limited Collector model:
Disassembled it and painted up the body and interior:
Printed the decals on an inkjet onto clear plastic window cling stock:
Wish it were that easy to make REAL CE decals. :nonod:
