How do I get these rotor rivets out?
I'm working on the front rotors. How do I get these rivets out? They're enraging me more by the minute. Any suggestions? I drilled out one, but I only managed to get the cap off. Is that all i need to drill out, or do I have to drill like a 3/4" hole threw these stupid things? :mad

Drill off all the caps, then punch them out with a good punch. You gotta pound a bit to get them out. You don't need to replace them though, the lug nuts will hold it all together.

I used an smaller drill bit first, then a large drill the size of the rivet head....It's a lot of work and I don't understand why Corvettes are this way. Good luck and hope you only need to do the front rotors.....the backs are just as bad..... :seeya

You can drill them w/ a small drill and then a larger one to break off the head. The rivets are VERY tough to hammer out. I simply used a flexwheel to grind them down:
I did the same on the backside

I heard that they riveted the rotors to keep them on going down the assembly line. Thats just what I've heard, I don't know how true. :D

I used a 5/16 inch bit centered properly on the rivett. That seemed to get all but a tiny sliver of the rivetts. I wouldn't use any bit larger than that. The "chop off the heads and punch them thru" method didn't work for me.
