A .125 over block and a set of heads and intake no one wants. If the crank and rods are good they are worth having. Personally I would stay away.

I am intrigued. Can a block be bored that far over and still be useable?

"and was lined bored .125 over". Hmmm is right. Curious to see what it fetches. I like the heads. If it goes over $3000 for that rag tag, I'm selling mine. But the block needs to go .010 over. :chevy

Thnx for the tip, its on the watch list.

THE foremost Yenko expert/restorer lives in the Bismarck area, I wonder if it's him? Yenko owners from all over the globe send their prizes to him for restoration. I ran into him a couple of times when I ran around up there with my big block Cuda's, the guy does some of the best restoration work I have ever witnessed.

In my opinion all of it's L-88 value is basically gone. Even the heads are modified. I have read that the L-88 block can be good for around an inch over.

I would treat this motor as a modified bored out 427 as far as value is concerned. Most of the parts are readily available. All that is L-88 is the block and the correct heads, and they are far from original.

Stay away from this bargin!
Let's see:
"Engine has all new gaskets and has less than 100 miles on it"....notice that the heads, etc. aren't even bolted to the block! At least he could've put the valve covers on the correct sides (no bolts or gaskets on those either).
"Has 208 Intake 194 Exhaust and 3/8 Pushrods".....L-88's came with 2.19" intake/1.88" exhaust valves and 7/16" dia pushrods.
"Has Eskidorian (sp) Z-89 (?) Comp Roller Cam"....maybe eskimos are making cams now!
"has less than 100 miles on it".....1/4 mile at a time?
"Contains over $4400.00 of new parts"....you can buy a BRAND NEW GM crate motor for that!
....and the list goes on!
I'm always suspicious of people selling stuff with lots of errors and incorrect information. I'll bet that engine never ran with those heads.
Even if the numbers are correct for your car, I doubt if the reserve is low enough to take a chance on this pile of parts.
Don't walk away.......RUN!!!

This is a pile of swap meet stuff assembled to look like an engine. Don't touch it. The rods would be nice, but that's it, and you can buy new ones for that price. Remember, this is old stuff, and if it was any good, they would sell it all seperately for what it was really worth.

That's my take on it as well Hans...

The only thing REALLY special about this "engine" is the block which appears to be a service L-88 piece (assembly date/suffix but no vehicle serial number). At .125 over, it's basically a paperweight. The racers run 'em this far over, but then they're usually filling the block with Devcon to keep the cylinders from moving around too... A block with no water jackets is not exactly what you want for the street.

The rest of the parts listed can be purchased fairly easily if not cheaply.

Greg,

I'm curious as to who your Yenko guy is in Bismarck. For my money THE finest Yenko expert/restorer works out of Latrobe, PA... Only my opinion though. :)

Regards,

A hundred bones for eight, you did get a screaming deal since a brace of eight 7/16 rods sell new for the "very expensive" princely sum of $400.00 at any Chevy dealer (that comes out to 50 bucks a rod for those who don't like math). Boy, when it comes to Ebay, knowledge is power.
