I just ordered a new Alternator for ZIP and I have a question.
I just ordered a replacement/remanufactured alternator for my 73 corvette. Now the salesperson said it would look almost exactly the same as my old when. The problem is, is that on my old one it had a fan with three blades on it, but on this one it has a turbine style fan that looks like a big circle with air grooves on the sides. Can't I get a correct fan for this thing so it at least seems to be correct.

Michael,
You should be able to take the new and old alt. to any competent auto part store and they should be able switch over the fan. Auto Zone did it for me on another car. They use an electric impact wrence to undo the nut.

Threads are standard. Lefty loosen, righty tighten. They are not reversed threads. That stud bolt can be very difficult to remove. Use and impact wrench.

got a 55 Amp. Put the "guts" in my original 42 amp. Now with the 4 halogen
headlights on it's able to keep up. (Still have the original 42 amp guts in a box)

and loosen the nut. Done it many times.
