The camaro will come back one day, but maybe with a different name or style. GM needs a $25K sports car. The Camaro is on a "hiatus" as GM says, please remember even the Corvette went away for a year to be tottaly re-done in 1980 or 81 I think.

 is right!:D
They made like, 50,000 'Vettes in 1980 and 1981. The year that there were no 'Vettes was '83. Rumor has it the redesign had so many problems it took 'em 'til '84 to come out with it.

Noel, as a fellow 82 CE owner, I hate to burst your bubble. Only ONE
1983 exists at the museum. Here it is

Here we go again with the '83! I've understood it as being 1 1/2. The half of one being hung over the NCM that had 1983 on it?

My 1980 must then be an extremely, extremely late '79
Also, when I parked the '83 in the Corvette Museum, it was on the other end. It's been moved according to the last pic. :bs

What do you mean when "you" parked it there. How does a guy get that job anyway?

let's put that whole '83 corvette 'issue' to rest once and for all. since june 30, 1953, there has never, NEVER been a year in which the corvette has not been produced. although, no corvette has ever been sold to the public as an '83 corvette (at least not one we've heard of yet...) the c-3 production stopped in mid 1982 and c-4 production started in very early 1983. i know it is semantics but to say a car produced, delivered and sold in march of 1983 is not an '83? come on!
the way i understand it, the biggest reasons the '84 was released as an '84 instead of '83 or '83-1/2 (ala mustang) was 1: production line problems and 2: the car met all upcoming federal requirments for 1984.
so there is my take on the whole '83 corvette issue. (you think this might start a whole other string?) :jester

I thought that they made a few 83 vette's but they were all used in testing with those cool crash dummies and that the only one left is in the museum..Thats what I heard and sound reasonable considering that the new bady style had to be tested... I doubt that they would put the 84 together and send it out on the road without some type of crash testing...

This stuff is fun!! I don't know too much about C-4 history, but I do know that in July of 1983, I was driving a C-4 Vette. Actually, I got to drive it home from the dealership. My wife had it for the next 4 years. Somebody was producing Corvettes in 1983, just called them 1984's because they met the EPA requirements and the extra time between models made people like me ****** one up real quick.

So then, to sum up:
Production continued unbroken from 82-84
GM did not sell any Corvettes LABELED as 1983 (regardless of what the VIN, body tags, or any other dated tags read).

Production on the 82 ended in October of 82.
The first 84 came out in March 83.
Look at the 83 in the museum, last time I remeber it didn`t have an interior at all. It was a piece of plywood from the dash to the rear area.
