Isn't $300,000 too much for this vette?
What am I missing here. I don't really understand what "documented" means. Is this something special or what?  Somebody explain it to me.

I think this is capitalism at work. Take a rare car, price it at $300,000 and sell it at the firesale price of $100,000 to someone who has money to burn.

I've seen somewhere that a '67 L88 went for $250,000, so I can see how one might get $300,000. The thing that bothers me about this one is "most numbers match".

A real factory built L88, documented with the tank sticker, ownership history, and other things I suppose. Not a clone. A roadster too....not too many L88's built in 67...20 or so as I recall. How many were roadsters as opposed to coupes? Don't know. It's a very rare car. Dave Burroughs turned down $700,000 for his 67 L88 coupe with 12 original miles on it a few years ago at the Bloomington Gold auction. Would I pay 300K for it...?? It's way out of my league, but it is truly a high dollar car if it's real. Chuck

Not necessarily for an L-88. L-88s and especially '67s are arguably considered the most collectible Vettes. In 1998 at Bloomington, I saw a '67 L-88 go thru the auction. The car had only about 20 miles on it and the sticker was still on the window - bidding went to $750,000, but the car did not sell - the reserve was rumored to be $1 million.

A nice original '67 L88 (20 built) is probly the most expensive corvette you can buy next to a '69 ZL1 (2 built). If it is perfect i could see it gong for that much. You would have to find out what most numbers match means to figure out how much this one is really worth.

I'm gonna guess that the tub and the trim rings/centre caps will come with it. Probably popped them off before pulling onto the track in 1967 and never put 'em back on.
If this car is a real L-88 (with undisputed documentation) it's worth that price and more (assuming that the car is in very good condition under close inspection).
The top 5 list of extremely desireable Corvettes includes (in my order....you set your own order):
1. 1963 Grand Sport
2. 1967 L-88
3. 1969 ZL-1
4. 1969 L-88
5. 1968 L-88
Could you say that I'm stuck in the '60s?

A few years ago a 69 ZL1 sold for $300,000 from Federal Marshals in South Florida. This was not the asking price. This was actual selling price. I have heard recently that this car is now valued at a cool one million dollars.
There are only two factory ZL1 Corvettes known to exist.

ROFL...I don't think I've ever seen "Most numbers match." It sounds like the guy doesn't want to sell the car...he just wants to insure it and "accidentally" leave it in neutral and roll it off a cliff.

Add a 55 3 speed manual to the rarest list only 7 were built if I remember correctly, and any mid year big gas tank car. The mid years are by far the most collectable Corvettes.

What needs do is put huge tires and wheels, tub out the fenders, and add a 6 speed and air conditioning....along with computer Fuel Injection....
