Default ADVISE - 1986 MultiPort with 700 TRanny

I'm thinking of getting a 350 MultiPort engine with a 700 tranny for my 1979. The corvette that it came from had 40,000 miles. The price sounds good - $1850 installed.

Any advise on this engine/tranny combo? I believe that the tranny uses the same shift console and that the "overdrive" kicks in via converter lockup.

On my '89 GMC Jimmy, I have one more transmission detent position, and the overdrive is more than just convertor lock-up. I use a B&M lock up controller which allows me to lock up the convertor at any spped in second, third, or fourth. It looks only at speed from the speedo sensor.
