Default So for those who think that they have the nastiest seats.

I've had my car for about 2.5 years now, I finally pulled the seats out in preparation for new leatherlikes and new foam. Here is the grossness that was lurking under the covers. After my covers are on and my 80/20 carpet is in, my interior is going to look great. I can't wait.

These are blue seats that someone attempted to dye black. OMG they look and smell terrible.

Wonder what the frames look like? Are you going to cover them your self, or have them covered?

The frames are really rusty. I'm going to try and clean them up and put por15 on what I can. The rust on these seats is inconsistent with the rest of the car, which is pretty low on rust.

one seat has a broken spring, so I'm going to see if I can replace it, or all of them, depending on how expensive it is.

I'm going to install these myself, doesn't look too hard. I did my Camaro seats and they turned out just fine.

Man, I thought my seats were bad! Compared to yours, mine have another 100,000 miles to go before recovering.

Your's look like they've been under water and have water stains!

they haven't been underwater, but damn are they ugly. They's misshapen too, which I don't fully understand.

Mine were black that somebody had dyed dark red. Lots of rust also, all bolts really badly stuck... Luckily nothing rusted through or broken. The recovering work itself was pretty easy though, and the results very gratifying.

Steve,

I think you should put those in a museum. I heard the Smithsonian is looking for Corvette articles.

To bad Daily Driver ain't here to offer his sound advice, but I will tell you what he would say:
I'm so baaaaaddddddddd :reddevil :reddevil :reddevil
But I feel gooooooooodddddd :blueangel: :blueangel: :blueangel:
Bahahhahahaha

You should get the springs Monday. Save the extras for another Forum member that might need some.
Damn, you ratted me out, now everyone's going to be looking under my seats for the bubba springs!!

Thanks so much Ed! People like you make this forum great. I'll post pictures, I just have to get a set of hog ring pliars now :D.

I will be recovering my seat soon as well. What I want to know is, all my chrome hardware is really badly pealing and blemished... but the replacement stuff cost a small fortune. Can this stuff be replated? If so will it be cheaper than getting new hardware?

Also, is buying Al Knoch covers better than the ones ZIP or CC sells?

Thanks,

Michael.

Steve,
If your seat frames and bolts are rusty. You might want to use a impact screw driver when taking the seat pivot hinge bolts out.

Getting stuff replated is expensive, I would try Paragon Reproductions for the chrome stuff. They are where zip and the other places mainly get stuff like that from.

My covers came from Corvette America and I'm REALLY please with the quality. They look great and feel heavy duty.
