You probably need to let it charge for a few minutes up to 20. Don't try to start when someone is messing w/ the cables.

You mean, with the jumper cable attached, the other car running. It won't turn over?
Sounds like a bad battery cable. Wiggle the cable around while turning the engine over. Hopefully you have another person to help. Hit the starter with a hammer.
By the way, do you have power(accessories) with the jumper cables attached?

Not a good idea to connect directly to the Negative terminal on the recipient vehicle. A battery explosion inside a C3 wouldn't be much fun. If you get a spark when connecting the final cable inside a car, and any battery fumes/gases are present, I'll leave it to you to imagine what could happen.
Here's the proper routine.
Donor vehicle:
- positive cable to positive battery terminal
- negative cable to negative battery terminal
Recipient vehicle:
- positive cable to positive battery terminal
- negative cable to best ground you can find (distance may be a problem if your battery cables are siamesed) like frame under the door.
Be careful.

Re: HELP!!!!.... Jump starting vette? (Jenny)
I croaked my battery about a day ago by leaving the parking lights on! DOH! As soon as I get home I'm going to hook up the battery charger (excellent investment!!!) and get it running again. Bad thing is now I have to reset my stereo settings and clock, which with my Pioneer unit, is a HUGE PITA!!! There's 20 different settings with at least 10 different options each. Ugh.

If you are getting nothing, then the bat. cables connections are probably loose or need cleaning. Sometimes just twisting them will do it. Wire brush, baking soda & water or coke will clean.

Jenny, it sounds like either a dead battery and bad jumper cables or badly corroded battery terminals/cables.
If you have a multimeter, test your battery.
Does your battery have 12 volts? If not that is the problem.
If it does, it wis probably the cables

Ouch!
Jenny an I are IM'in, trying to walk her through it.
She has the battery chargin and she turns the key and gets no accessories(radio, interor lights).
I really think she has a bad battery cable, probably one of the ends is corroded under the plastic cover.

Yes, sounds like bad connection at the battery from the Vette cables, not the jumper cables. Expect you know that is what I meant before.
