Default Why Does It Have To Be So Hard?

A simple task like changing the oil pan gasket? Had to remove the idler arm and power steering ram to lower the suspen. Easy.. Tried every whick way to finess the pan out... OHHH NO.. I'm not getting off this easy....the crossover pipe is in the way. All six manifold studs had to be cut (rusted solid) to drop the exhaust. ($$$$) 4 cut with a sawzall, 2 with dremmell. First exhaust joint rusted and couldn't seperate. Twisting, turning, banging, cussing...no dice!! I'm :mad :cuss :cuss :mad by now... so out comes the sawzall again and off with the crossover ($$$$) and down comes the pan.... WHEW.. Miller Time!! Man, one simple job just gets me deeper and deeper into other systems, and more $$$$. I think It's time for true duals cause I'm not going through this crap again!! :nonod: :nonod: AHHH.. I feel better, now that I've vented.. :D Thanks for listening....

It seems that it would be easier just to put the motor.

I've learned the same lesson. Now, before I do any exhaust or chassis work (or anyplace where nuts and bolts get rusty or cruddy) I go out a day or two prior and soak the bolts in penetrating oil. I'm not saying that it would have saved you from all of your headaches but it may have helped.

There is no such thing as a simple task on these cars. Try to figure out how much time and money will be needed and then double it and you should be pretty close. Thats assuming nothing goes wrong. :yesnod:

Take satisfaction in the knowledge that these cars kick "ALL" the owners butts when working on them ! BTW everybody speaks the same *%^^$#E#@
language when they get underneath the car. We need to ban the guy that proclaims ownership to be an adventure .. Follow the above instructions and drink more beer it is loaded with vitamin P !!
